Legal Briefs by NM Silber!!!

Legal Briefs Blog Tour Banner

Synopsis

Smart and sassy lawyer, Lily Adler, has been waging an epic battle with handsome and cocky Assistant District Attorney, Adam Roth since "the glitter incident" in preschool when they were four. Their friends' marriage, a mysterious neighbor, a federal trial, and some bossy big sisters guarantee they'll be spending plenty of time together. When they try to learn to play nicely, will they discover that their reaction to each other is even more volatile when they aren't fighting? Can they avoid the mobsters trying to kill them and figure out a way to be together without killing each other?

I fell in love with N.M. Silber's writing pretty much from page 1 of Law of Attraction. She is hilarious and writes amazing characters that are warm and friendly. I was a little nervous about Adam and Lily since I love Braden and Gabrielle so much. I thought there is no way I could love anyone more than them. I spoke too soon. Adam and Lily are hilarious and great together. Adam came off as a little bit of a conceited jerk in the first 2 books but when you get to see him alone with Lily he is amazingly sweet. Granted he can still be a jerk but hey Lily brings it out of him. I like Lily because even though her parents want her to do what they want her to do she sticks to her guns and lives in a horrible neighborhood in order to do what she loves.

This book continues to give you laughter with a touch of mystery and of course HOT couples!!! I want more of Adam and Lily and can't wait for more of this crazy group of lawyers. I am giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5. You will LOVE it!!!

Without giving too much away....I am adding this picture just to say maybe Adam was right...

Fighting To Forget by JB Salsbury!!!

PBT banner FTF

Fighting to Forget

FightingtoForget
Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring. But very few are drawn to the pain. Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn. Or so he thought. Working in a Las Vegas bar isn't Georgia McIntyre's dream. But she hopes it'll be an end to the nightmare. She's watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she’s been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn't count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal. And she knows why. She's lived his pain every single day, since the day he left. Changed by time, Rex doesn't remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same. Will she get the absolution she's spent her life seeking? Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

Sunny's Review:

I love love love this series. I am not sure how or why I stumbled across Fighting to Forget but I fell in love with Jonah and JB's writing. I did not think that any of the fighters could be anywhere close to Jonah but Rex might be right there. I love him. I didn't really feel like I knew much about him from the previous books so I was not sure what the story was going to be. I started this book at 4 in the morning after being out all night (playing Bingo nothing majorly fun) and was done before noon (I did doze a little in there).  I was in such a book hangover I tried to read 3 or 4 different books and couldn't because I could not get this book out of my head. It has been like this with all of JB's books.

Rex is awesome. When you think about all the stuff that he is dealing with and the fact that he is a functioning person is amazing to me. Yes, he has his issues and it might make it a little bit hard for him to function in some areas but over all he is a wonder. Mac is another character that I feel should maybe go to the top of really good female characters.  I don't want to give anything away because this story is awesome. You have to read it.

I am giving this book 4.8 stars out of 5. If you have not read The Fighting Series yet you are missing out. I think you will love it.

EXCERPT
“Do you have an extra toothbrush?” I called out, heading for the bathroom.
“Use mine.”
“Use yours? That’s kind of gross.”
“Is the thought of my tongue in your mouth gross too? Because that could have an impact on our romantic relationship.” I guess he had a point there.
I went into the bathroom, washed up, did everything else that half a bowl of rum punch and three glasses of water made necessary, and then contemplated his toothbrush. Fuck it, I was going for it. I brushed my teeth and headed for the hall. I saw him lying on the sofa, punching a pillow to soften it up and I wandered in to say goodnight. Okay, and to ogle a little because he had taken his shirt off again and his body was beautiful.
“Goodnight,” I said trying not to stare. I wasn't succeeding very well and the amused look on his face told me that he had noticed.
“Goodnight,” he said, trying not to look at my boobs, bouncing around jauntily under McGruff the Crime Dog as I moved. He wasn't succeeding too well either, I might add.
“If you need anything I’ll be in there,” I said glancing off toward his bedroom.
“It’s my apartment, I’m sure I can find whatever I need.” He gave into temptation and let his eyes drop for a moment to my body. “Whatever I need that it would be appropriate for me to have tonight,” he added, sounding frustrated. He grabbed his iPad from the end table, and settled into read.
“What are you reading?” I asked curiously.
“Espionage thriller.”
“Ah, I thought you wanted to read the rest of my…”
“I do, want to read them, but I couldn't handle that tonight with you here and half naked. I might forget my rules about women who have been drinking to excess. Now go get some sleep, because you’re getting me hard again, and if I practice any more self-love tonight, I might get carpel tunnel.”
“You mean you were…” I must have looked surprised.
“What did you think, I was just really hygienic?”
“I thought maybe you were taking cold showers,” I admitted.
“Hell, no. I don’t waste God’s gifts.”

Because of Kian by Sibylla Matilde!!!

***** Mature Content, Abuse, Sexual Situations, Adult Situations, Strong Language *****

I know I’m twisted. Growing up in a perfectly well-adjusted home, I don’t really have an excuse. But no matter… I realize how messed up I am. And therapy can only do so much.

I pushed my boyfriend to violence, a violence he couldn't control. Sickly, I almost liked it. So I pushed him more. Before long, the pain outweighed the pleasure and the loss I sustained shattered me. So I ran. I’m now a bit shell-shocked harboring a lot of guilt. My boyfriend is now my ex and wants revenge. He wants me to pay for turning him into the monster he’s become. And I still have a deviant yearning that I don’t understand. My own monster inside… my own demon to battle.

I can’t get close to anyone. I can’t give in and scratch that itch. I can’t wreck someone else.

And now there is Kian… my rescuer on a dark, painful night. He sees through my pretense. He tries to pull me from my frightened isolation, to keep me from becoming a victim. He forces me to face my warped desires and shows me that pain doesn’t really have to truly hurt.

He wants to show me a way to serenity. But I am afraid… Will I ruin a good man?

Sunny's Review:

This book is awesome. I really like Sibylla's writing. She takes alpha males to the next level. Kian is awesome. He saves Brynn one night and begins teaching her self-defense. You find out there is a lot more to both of them. Brynn is interesting. She has cut herself off from everything and thinks everything is her fault. Kian tries to help her realize what she wants and why her situation is not her fault.

I am giving this book 4.3 stars out of 5. I think most people will really enjoy this book. It deals with some tough subjects but it is still really good.

About Sibylla Matilde:

Sibylla Matilde grew up in the mountain valleys of Southwest Montana exploring the dusty Old West gold country on the back of a horse. She attended a two-room schoolhouse beginning in 1st grade & had the same teacher until she changed schools after 7th. Beginning at about age 12, Sibylla discovered historical romance, feeding off of work of Jude Deveraux & Lisa Kleypas. She loves a book that can make the reader run the gamut of emotions, from the sweet glow of new love to gut-wrenching heartache. She is a true romantic & always has stories floating around in her head, living in a fantasyland until she writes them down to free them.

Music is her emotional trigger. Growing up with a Wagnarian-loving mother, Sibylla was raised to treasure music that digs deep into the psyche, drawing out elation, sorrow, grief, desire. The soundtrack to her life includes many genres spanning centuries. She looooooooves Thirty Seconds to Mars (rather obsessively, actually... but, really, how can you NOT be crazy about this guy!? Jared Leto. Shhh. ) & pimps them out to all her friends through Spotify. She also delights in Met Opera HD broadcasts at her local movie theater & hopes (listening Met?) to someday see Diana Damrau reprise her role as Mozart’s Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte.

Sibylla lives with her husband and hero who saved her from her own calamitous, young-adult self. He makes her laugh daily, even when things are tough. He's proved to her that love really can heal a shattered soul. In 18 years, they have never had a fight, although argue regularly with their two teenage kids who have, unfortunately, inherited their father’s quick wit (unfortunate as it is a quick wit that Sibylla, herself, definitely does not possess – there is a reason she is a writer & not a stand-up comedian). They live a quiet life with their two weird little rescued Chiweenies. Wait… teenagers & little yap-dogs? OK, maybe not so quiet.

Fashion Week begins with a bang, and Daisy uncovers the ugly reality of the industry. She wants to prove to her family that she can live on her own, but when everything spirals out of control, she turns to Ryke to keep her secrets. As Daisy struggles to make sense of this new world and her freedom, she pushes the limits and fearlessly rides the edge. Ryke knows there’s deep hurt beneath every impulsive action. He must keep up with Daisy, and if he lets her go, her favorite motto—“live as if you’ll die today”—may just come true.
***Authors' Note*** Hothouse Flower is a spin-off of the Addicted series. Kiss the Sky is required before reading, and we strongly recommend reading the Addicted series before this spin-off.

Sunny's Review:

I was so excited to read this book!!! I loved Ryke and Daisy in the other books. Daisy was young and crazy and wild. She would do and say stuff that I wish I had the guts to say when I was younger. She is awesome. Ryke was totally sigh worthy and always there for her. He drops everything for Daisy when she needs him. LOVE THEM! You do realize that as much as Daisy wants to be an adult she still has some growing up to do.

I love love love this series and from page 1 you can't put this book down. I recommend you read it but you really need to read this series in order.  I am giving this book 4.2 stars out of 5.

Krista Ritchie has a clone...or someone who looks exactly like her. If she's not writing books with her twin sister, she's pouring over entertainment news and ingesting copious amounts of pop culture. She likes tennis, that thing called the TV, and beating Becca (her clone) on Sega Genesis. She created YA Book Exchange to combat her book buying addiction and started Nawanda Files, a YA Book Blog that features books into movies news, to share her love for all things bookish. Oh, and she does something called science. Whatever that is. Krista & Becca Ritchie write New Adult books that make you cringe, gasp, and go ooh-la-la. (If you do that sort of thing.) They are currently working on the spin-offs and final books in the Addicted series.
