Darra's Review:

I did read Lennon's Jinx and liked the book. However, I like Rain much more than Jinx. Maybe it is because they are just too different. Coming off of all the past that you find out in book #1, you wish the best and hope that they would end up together. But Lennon's past come into the his life and he can't help himself to go to Rain.
Rain loved Lennon. And you will obviously find out Lennon is in love with Rain. She is caring and understanding and looks after everyone. Even after Lennon's other relationship. Sometimes you just can't get past who you fall for. And you will find out who he chooses. It was super sweet he asked Rain to marry him when he was in middle school.
The book has so many things that happen just like the first book. The ending is crazy and you feel for all the characters. And you get to see Lennon's relationship evolved with his parents.

I would rate this book a 3.9. Solid plot. Lots of action. And of course, love.

Sunny's Review:

Let's just be honest right now...a hot first baseman that plays for the Atlanta Braves...YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!!! I really loved Brady. He is awesome and I like the fact that he had his heart broken and did not even consider cheating on her. Jane was good too because she is honest about being all jacked up after her ex. She said she wasn't sure about a relationship and Brady took that and was actually pretty supportive of it. I don't know who wouldn't have fallen in love with Brady after the movies and I am glad that she gave him a chance. I can't wait to read Playing the Field. There was a HUGE cliffhanger and I am not going to lie...there were some tears sooooooo go get this book!!!!

I am giving it 4.2 stars. I like it and I think you will too.

About the Author:

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch.

It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

Sunny's Review:

I really like this series of books. They are all set up to be stand alone books but they are all focused on different members of the same group of friends. I like Jonathon. He is kind of a jerk in that he is a womanizer but unapologetic about it. I do like that he was embarrassed when he met Patricia and she realized he was with 2 other girls. I do like Patricia. She is smart, funny and does not automatically roll over and do whatever Jon wants. They both some issues from their pasts to deal with and it pulls them apart. J.C. does a good job making you feel their pain and making you want to slap some sense into both of them. I like when an author can make me feel so strongly for the characters.

I am giving this book 4 stars out of 5 and recommend you reading it. Like I said these books can be read alone or as a series. I have enjoyed all the books in the series so far and look forward to more.

Beautiful Failure by Mariah Cole

Title: Beautiful Failure

Author: Mariah Cole

Genre: New Adult Romance

Hosted by: Mary Elizabeth’s Crazy Book Obsession

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18625288-beautiful-failure

Synopsis

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...

Sunny's Review:

This book is really good. My mouth literally hung open at the beginning of this book. You get to see all the words of "wisdom" from Emerald's mother. It is interesting to see what some people think is important. I liked getting to see Emerald grow up a little bit and see that she has more issues than even she knows.
Carter is awesome in that he doesn't judge Emerald for the things that she is doing to survive. Instead he actually helps her get to and from work and watches her when she asks. He is pretty understanding on all fronts. I mean he is pretty much perfect. I was really mad at her towards the end and I can't wait for the next book.
I am going to give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I really like it and you are dealing with some situations that you don't normally see.

Only For You by Genna Rulon!!!!

Synopsis:

“In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!“

All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.

When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.

Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate–that fickle shrew–continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication… Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.

Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption--brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.

Note:  Although this is series, each novel can be read as a stand alone.

Goodreads

Darra's Review:

I think this book reminds me of several of my other favorite books. Which of course is a good thing. Everleigh takes no crap and is sarcastic, a great combination. I did have a good laugh when she got kicked out of the class. And then she has him in one of her classes. The back and forth between the two are great. Smart and witty come backs. And when Hunter puts that music bug(you will understand when you read) in her ear, I laughed. And that night at the bar, the dancing.......wow.
There are several characters you get a taste of. But I want to hear more about Sam and her ex and many others. I assume that is why there are other books. There are many stories that revolve around the story of Hunter and Everleigh. Hunter is such a honorable guy, you can't help from wanting a Hunter for yourself.
Another book I needed to have my happily ever after. This book has so much that happens, it was easy to read the book in a day.
I would rate this book a 4.3. Give it a read!

They say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Not everyone will grieve in this order, nor will everyone go through every stage. It’s during the stage of denial when Alex Hart meets Andrew Foster. Leaving…this is what makes heading off to war so difficult and frightening for Alex. She knows all too well what it’s like to be the one on the losing end of life, which is why she’s made it her personal mission in life to save as many lives as possible. The extreme high she gets from treating trauma victims turns into Alex’s own form of therapy, or so she thinks.

Sugartown!!!

Title: Welcome to Sugartown
Author: Carmen Jenner
Genre: Contemporary New Adult
Release Date: November 3, 2013

Ana Belle never wanted anything more than to hang up her apron, jump on her Vespa and ride off into the sunset, leaving Sugartown in the dust.

Elijah Cade never wanted anything more than a hot meal, a side of hot arse and a soft place to lay his head at night where he could forget about his past.

But you know what they say about wanting: you always want what you can’t have.

Nineteen year-old virgin Ana is about to discover that’s not quite true because a six foot three, hotter than hell, tattooed, Aussie sex god just rode into town. He’s had a taste of her pie and he wants more– no really, Ana bakes pies for a living, get your mind out of the gutter.

She’d be willing to hand over everything tied up in a big red bow, there’s just one problem; Elijah has secrets dirtier than last week’s underwear. Secrets that won’t just break Ana’s heart, but put her life at risk, too. When those secrets come to light, their relationship is pushed to breaking point.

Add to that a psychotic nympho best friend, an overbearing father, a cuter than humanly possible kid brother, a wanton womanizing cousin, the ex from hell and more pies than you could poke a ... err ... stick ... at.

And you thought small towns were boring.

Darra's Review:

We had to pick this book out. Can't go wrong with a small town girl and a hot motorcycle guy coming into town. Ana has to take care of her Mom's pie restaurant. Which so happens to be across from her Dad's car and motorcycle shop..that Elijah works at. Ana is over her head with him. He is hot, manly and then she finds out he has a past. A very dangerous past.
Once she got involved in the past, she was done. She breaks it off for awhile. This is the part I was conflicted with. Elijah falls for her deeply. But things happen when they broke up and I just wanted to slap him in the face. But they were broken up. This is my inner girl thinking here. Jerk.
In the end, you can't help but love him. Despite all the really bad things that happen(OMFG that ex-boyfriend!) they must end up together. You will find out what happens!

I would rate this book a 4.2. it keep me interested all the way through. And Elijah is CRAZY. But in a good way.
