Heller's Decision by J.D. Nixon Review

SYNOPSIS:

Tilly Chalmers’ new job as a researcher for a TV star turns out to be more eventful than she ever expected. Always on the lookout for a top rating story for her boss, she tangles with adult movie stars and a man who inspired a couple of young murderers. An unwelcome encounter with an old enemy stirs up trouble, and what decision does Heller make that threatens to jeopardise their relationship?

Darra's Review:

Oh, how do I explain my love for Heller? There are no words. He is one of my first book loves. Okay, he is a bit of a Asshole, Cocky, Rude but super sweet and loves to take care of the people he loves. He surprises you all the time.
Tilly has to be one of my favorite characters. She is such a mess. Every where she goes, everything goes awry. So funny, but a disaster.
This books is just as good as the 4 previous books. Crazy things happen. My Husband gives me the crazy look because I keep laughing out loud. She has by far, the funniest books. Including Heller, Tilly and all the other characters in the book, you can't but love the story. Also, the bathroom scenes. So funny I tear up.
I am so scared to what is happening in the last book. Just by the name, Heller's Regret. What is he regretting! Also, this is the last book. I am freaking out! I want it to last until they are 80 years old. That is how great the series is. Sigh.

Trust me when I say, these books are a must. You have to read them. Besides, the first book is free!
I rate this book a 4.7. The series so far 4.8.

These are the books are the ones you re-read!

Sunny's Review:

OH MY HOLY HELLER!!!! I love him so so much. I mean he is blond hair, blue eyes, built and takes care of everyone...what is not to love!!! This series is so freaking funny. I mean you don't see a lot of books with this kind of ridiculousness and awesomeness!!! (yes I might be making up words)

So at the end of the last book I wanted to beat Heller!!! I was not liking how this was going...but thankfully this book was AWESOME!!!  We spent the whole year waiting for this book and trying to decide what his decision is going to be...what is he deciding? You will be surprised. I love it. Darra is correct...the bathroom scenes are freaking HILARIOUS!!! I love all the characters. JD has done a wonderful job pulling us into their lives.

I am going to give this book 4.6 out of 5 stars. I love it. Go get all of these. Heller (the first book) is free on B&N, Amazon and Smashwords. You don't even have to take our word on how good this series is...you can read it for free!!! It is a full length book too.

Buy The Book!!!!

IT'S ONLY $2.99!!!!

About JD Nixon:

I live in beautiful Queensland in Australia. I started writing in 2009 because I wanted to do something creative and haven't stopped since! I have two series of books:

The Heller series (first book Heller - free!) features the frequently outlandish adventures of security officer, Tilly Chalmers, and her complicated relationship with her beautiful, mysterious and intense boss, Heller.

The Little Town series (first book Blood Ties - free!) features police officer, Tess Fuller, and her struggle to survive a long-standing vendetta with the feral Bycraft family and at the same time manage the tense relationship between her new partner, Finn Maguire, and her boyfriend, Jake Bycraft.

My author dream is to one day write a short story (which for me will probably be about 50,000 words!) where Tilly & Heller meet Tess & Finn. What a story that would be! Maybe over the end-of-year break???

I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them! I'd love to hear your feedback, so why not email me at: jdn.author@gmail.com

Seductive Shadows by Marni Mann!!!

Title: Seductive Shadows
Author: Marni Mann
Genre: Erotica/Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Booktrope (http://booktrope.com/)
Synopsis:

Charlie is a passionate, sensually-inspired art student, desperately seeking an escape from the abusive past that haunts her and a tragic accident that emptied her heart. Scarred and unable to love, her yearning for physical pleasure leads her into a tantalizing, dangerous world of power and seduction. The anonymity of the deal offers security; the money brings financial freedom and the madam is the mother figure she longs for.

But the thrill of the mansion and its arousing dominance quickly fades when she meets renowned-yet-mysterious Cameron Hardy, whose intense baby blue eyes send a nervous flutter through her core. Cameron is sexy, and not in a subtle way. He stimulates Charlie’s art, her intellect and her desires. Just as he begins to break through her emotional boundaries, she discovers a devastating connection between her past and her scandalous work at the mansion, shattering everything she thought to be true.

Provocative, intoxicating and erotic, Seductive Shadows is the unforgettable tale of a young woman’s self-discovery as she learns to forgive, to love and be loved, and to find redemption amidst a remarkable journey that will captivate your mind and stimulate your soul.

This book is for mature audiences. It contains explicit language and sexual content.

Excerpt from Seductive Shadows:

He dipped his head, his lips stopping just above my earlobe. His fingers traced the skin below my jaw. I expected words to come out of his mouth, but instead it was a tiny moan. And then a breeze of cold air as he moved over to the bed. He sat on the edge, hands resting on the mattress, after he unknotted his tie.

“Come to me.”

I stepped past the pole and around the end of the bed. His commands and the way he expected to be obeyed enticed me. They weren’t cruel or threatening. His voice, his words, his whole persona was deliberate and inviting. The need from my other sexual partners had often been a turn off, but Jay’s tone was just the opposite.

“Slowly,” he said.

With my chin pointed down, hair falling over my cheeks, I looked up at him as though he were my master. If this was the role I needed to take on for tonight to impress Victoria and make her proud, I was ready to abide. Our eyes met, and his breath quickened. I bit my bottom lip and took a step forward. My toes danced over a broken slab of mirror, pausing for several seconds, and I took another. Landing just a foot from his lap, my fingers caressed the buttons of his shirt, and when I got to the bottom, I started back up.

“Take it off,” he said, his eyes never leaving mine.

I pushed his top button through the hole.

“No,” he said quickly. “Yours.”

Interview with Marni Mann:

Writing
1.       What’s a typical day like in the life of Marni Mann?
I usually wake up between 5:00-6:00a and with a very large cup of coffee I head straight to my computer. I enjoy writing really early in the morning because I’m not distracted by social media, phone calls, or email. The quietness usually lasts until about 8:00 and that’s when I shift to marketing. For the rest of the day, I alternate between writing, marketing and some form of communication, and that could continue into the evening or stop at around dinnertime. When the words are really flowing, I have a hard time switching them off.

2.       Who or what inspired you to become a writer?
It was an emotion that lived inside my chest - it still does - and it trickled down my arm, to my hand, and released through my fingers. When I was younger, the emotion only dulled when I held a pen. Now it’s satisfied when my fingers are resting on a keyboard. It’s very difficult to describe the feeling, but writing has just always felt right.

3.       Do you remember the first thing you ever wrote?
I believe I was five or six and it was a book about the dog I wanted. I even drew my own pictures. I can’t say my drawing has improved since then, but my writing definitely has. ;)

4.       Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way, either growing up or as an adult?
Because every author has such a unique voice, I’m constantly inspired and influenced by their creations. There are authors I’ve been reading for most of my life - like Stephen King - and some I just found last month. I’m honestly a huge fan of the written word and I’m willing to read just about anything.

5.       Where do you get your ideas from? Do they come to you or are they inspired by true events?
My books always start with the main character and all of my protagonists have come to me in dreams. Some of my books have been inspired by true events or have been triggered by certain images that I found and others have just come to me.

6.       Do you work with an outline or just write?
I use an outline. It’s never too detailed, but it highlights the major points I need to hit. The filler between each point is completely organic.

7.       Do you ever experience writer’s block? If so, how do you get out of the funk?
I have and it’s horrific. I reread the notes that readers have sent to me - I save every single one of them, even direct messages, emails, and social media shout outs - and I use their words as fuel.

8.       What part of the writing process is the hardest for you, whether it’s first draft, rewriting or editing?
Editing is the most difficult step in the process because it’s lengthy, extremely detailed, and it’s when every point and thought needs to seamlessly blend together.

9.       Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what do you listen to?
Music is a necessity. It has to be playing super loud, too, and it’s usually something a bit dark with heavy beats like dubstep or Swedish House Mafia. Something that gets me moving in my chair, but also triggers creativity.

Seductive Shadows
10.   What inspired Seductive Shadows?
I was inspired by several images: the masks from Eyes Wide Shut, a mirrored floor, a few pieces of art, and the different emotional and physical layers of sex. The challenge was finding a way to weave these all together.

11.   What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? Hardest?
My favorite scene was the first kiss between Cameron and Charlie. It had been building for such a long time that the embrace was just a powerful moment to write. The hardest was the scenes between Charlie and her mother. They had such a broken relationship and her mom was just a horrible person. Emotional darkness can be really challenging to write because those moments are extra sensitive and extremely personal.

12.   Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why? What would you say to that person?
I’d like to meet Cameron because he’s absolutely beautiful and who doesn’t want to admire that kind of hotness in person? I also believe he needs a good listener and he could benefit from a heavy emotional purge and that’s exactly what I would tell him.

13.   What has been the toughest criticism you’ve been given as an author?
Someone once said that I didn’t give one of my books my full effort and I didn’t try hard enough. As authors, we have to understand that not everyone is going to like the stories we create, our characters, our voice, or even us as people. That’s life and the difference of opinion and we’re all entitled to form our own. But when I take on a project, the project completely owns me in every aspect and I put everything I have into my work.

14.   What has been the best compliment?
It’s hard to pick a best because I’m just so honored that readers take the time to contact me, that they’re willing to share their emotions, how the book affected them, and what they loved about it. All compliments are truly cherished.

15.   Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?
Write as much as you can. Every writer has his or her own unique voice and it’s impossible to find that voice unless you experiment. My other piece of advice is read everything you can get your hands on because behind every great writer is a great reader.

Too Fast by Alexia Haynes

Synopsis:

Twenty-year-old Savannah enjoys a one-time one-night stand because a real relationship would never fit into her busy schedule. Working two jobs and pursuing her degree takes all of her time. Besides, the guys she has dated haven't been much better than the random barfly.

It's a good thing Luke's body is honed by the long hours of carpentry and construction because he carries the weight of his family on his shoulders. School hasn't been an option for him since he dropped out to make the house payments his mother had failed to make.

Luke finds what he's been longing for in a night with Savannah. She's determined to stop with a one-night stand, but he wants more. Neither can deny the perfection of their passionate interludes, but with such imperfect lives, do they have any chance for a future together? Suddenly she's losing her heart and it's all happening much too fast.

REVIEW:

I like the way this book just goes right into the plot. Immediately you like Savannah. She is upbeat, realistic, interesting and obviously has fun. Don't think I am saying she is a (a word that rhymes with bore), she actually seems to be realistic. I think every girl understands where she is coming from. From the moment you see Luke laying on her bed, you love him! He is awesome! Absolutely sexy, he takes care of his family and affectionate. Really affectionate in multiple locations.
They have to be together is all I thought. I am a sucker for a happy ending. I was a little bit nervous with the whole craziness of his mother. But overall I was happy with the ending. I do look forward to seeing more about Savannah's best friend and the drummer in another book.

I would give this book a 4.0. Luke is perfect!

Marigny Street Blog Tour!!

Synopsis:

Do you believe in the power of dreams?

Way down south on Marigny Street in the heart of New Orleans, the land of Catholic intersessions, purgatory, and supernatural superstitions, young Evangeline Chenier dreams of a radiant boy who saves her from a storm. She takes the dream seriously – in her family, dreams are sometimes more than dreams. Sometimes they foretell the future. Sometimes they create it.

Years later, Eva is no longer the same wistful girl but a hardened woman who no longer believes in dreams. Losing faith in her gift, she becomes lost in a nightmare of emotion, mourning her son, separating from her husband, and stewing in a dead-end job. And then fate brings her an unlikely surprise: one of the most famous movie stars in the world, Gabriel Roberts.

Caught by something in his eyes, Eva agrees to show him the real Big Easy on his last night in New Orleans—an evening that turns into four dreamy days spent recapturing lost faith and discovering a love neither expected. Realizing Gabriel is the boy from her childhood dream, Eva must leave everything behind—her husband, her family, her history, and the beautiful city she calls home—and gamble it all for the dream that has saved her on MARIGNY STREET.

Sunny's Review:

Ok so if you guys follow us on facebook you know that all last weekend I was talking about a book making me need to go to NOLA...THIS IS IT!!! I love the way that Annie described New Orleans. All I could think about was how much I wanted to go back and I could hear the music and feel the heat and humidity. LOVE IT!  So if you have never been this is a great description...if you have been get ready to want to go back.

Now for the actual book content...I like this book. It is not as easy as just meeting the perfect guy and falling in love. Eva had already done that. Unfortunately life took over and there were so many hardships that Eva and her husband had already faced.  Then Eva meets Gabriel and it is an instant connection. She is trying to figure it all out and they have the BEST weekend. I can honestly say that I was in just as much turmoil as Eva through this book. I love (and hate) when an author can make me physically hurt while reading a book. It is amazing and I wish I had that type of talent. Gabriel is GREAT and SWEET and you love him from the beginning.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Go get it. It really is amazing. The ending was...well I'm not giving that away...you have to see for yourself!

About the Author:

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently (still) resides in the big shake (although her southern roots are calling her home) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Frontline Blog Tour

Title: Frontline
Author: Alexandra Richland
Release Date: August 6, 2013
Genre: Mystery/Contemporary Romance
Cover designed by: F.S. Meurinne (www.fsmeurinne.com) E-mail: info@fsmeurinne.com

Synopsis:

When nurse Sara Peters treats celebrity billionaire Trenton Merrick for a mysterious injury to his forehead, she is blindsided by what follows: A passionate exchange in the examination room, followed by an invitation to Trenton's mansion the next night.

Trenton spins a web of deceit and seduction around Sara that both repels and attracts her. One part humanitarian, the other international financial mogul, his professional and public life are a curious contradiction. As Sara journeys deeper into her feelings for Trenton and begins unraveling the mystery behind his injury, she finds herself embroiled in a game of trust and betrayal, where the odds are stacked in Trenton's favor, and the outcome for the loser is too terrifying to conceive.

Sunny's Review:

When I read this synopsis I was like ok here is another billionaire saving the poor girl. I can get on board with this. I was so surprised that Sara was not a typical "oh ok I will do whatever you say. Please take care of me." girl. She had a backbone and told Trenton that he was going too fast and was a little bit crazy. There is plenty of steam when they first meet but when she gets her head on straight she is great. She is also very much ok with taking care of herself and isn't scared of anything. Trenton is totally intense and yes I LOVE HIM.  Who wouldn't??? Mysterious, rich and HOT...yes please!

I love that this book is not just meet, fall in love, fight and happily ever after. (I love those stories but I enjoy a change up too)  So there is quite a bit of mystery. Trenton is not very forthcoming about himself personally even though he expects Sara to just bend to his will. I also like getting to see Sara's relationship with her friends and how they will take care of her if needed. I think I am going to give this book 4.2 stars out of 5. I recommend it and can't wait to finish the series!!!

Trailer:

Excerpt:

Trenton follows me, leaving Christopher, Sean, and Denim alone inside my apartment.

I stand against the wall with my arms crossed over my chest.

After closing the door, Trenton approaches and presses his palms to the wall on either side of my head. The sound of my pounding heart fills my ears. I drop my arms to my sides and push my head back as far as I can, breathing deeply. His stare looks dark, intense . . . needy.

Goose bumps explode on my skin as he pins me against the wall with his body and brushes his lips to my ear. “First of all, don’t you ever yell at me in front of my men again, do you understand?”

I open my mouth to protest but he hushes me.

“Secondly . . .” He skims his nose across my cheek. “Regarding my behavior at the diner, I was distracted by something going on at work. You deserved better treatment and I apologize.”

He pulls back, his hands still planted against the wall. Heat surges through me as I focus on his mouth.

“I need to kiss you, Sara.” His husky declaration snaps me to attention. “And you’re going to let me, courtship be damned.”

Trenton licks his lips and dips his head, pressing a kiss to my collarbone. I gasp and close my eyes. A wave of warm breath dances across my neck as he moves higher . . . higher . . . every soft kiss tangling me tighter in his web of power, passion, and possession.

One more surprise before GIVEAWAY!!!

Ok...to me writers are amazing people. I do not have a creative bone in my body...I missed that the same day they handed out a sense of direction...I was obviously reading somewhere! So here is your surprise...Alexandra was nice enough to give an INTERVIEW!!! I feel like I strike gold when I get to see what authors have to say...they are AMAZING! So here it is:

Before we start, I would like to say thank you to The Novel Tease for approaching me for this interview.

1.       What does Alexandra Richland do when she’s not writing?
As a registered nurse, I spend a lot of my time at the hospital, caring for pediatric patients. I also enjoying running, reading, and traveling.

2.       How does your writing process look? Do you tend to write a standard number of words in regular sittings, or does inspiration hit you sporadically?
It varies. Sometimes when I’m in my “writing zone” I can write many pages in one sitting. If I feel emotionally connected to the scene/chapter, the words will come easily, and I can read them back the next day and desire to change only minor things. On other occasions, the process is more difficult, which tends to happen when I’m pressed for time. When this occurs, I will step away from the computer and go for a run, or just busy myself with other tasks. If I feel inspired to write later on that day, I will. If not, I don’t push it. Or if the interest is semi-there, I’ll write as much as I can, even if I might think it sucks, and then rewrite it at another time. Editing and rewriting are the easiest parts of the writing process for me. As long as I have a foundation, even in point form, I’m confident I can turn out something I’m very proud of. The scenes that come easiest to me are the ones I can visualize like a movie. Music also helps inspire emotion and assists in the writing process.

3.       What inspired you to write Frontline?
The Starlight Trilogy is a very detailed Hollywood romance set in the 1950s. When I finished all three novels, I wanted to write a book with an entirely opposite tone – a modern thrill ride that kept the reader turning the pages, unable to put it down, with a lot of sexual tension, action, adventure, romance, and intrigue. As I was in the midst of nursing school at the time, I thought of a crazy thing that could potentially happen to a nurse while on the job and expanded on the idea, pushing the boundaries of my writing as well as character behavior and development. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

4.       If you could describe Frontline in 3 words, what would they be?
Sexy. Exciting. Suspenseful.

5.       Which character speaks the loudest?
Though he was never supposed to play such a significant role, Randall really surprised me as the book progressed. I relied on him more and more, as did the other characters, for his wisdom, insight, loyalty, and mysteriousness. I just finished writing an origin tale for Randall, as I was as curious about his background. I hope Frontline readers will be interested in him, too, after they finish the story. I'm very happy to be able to include Randall’s tale as part of the bonus material in the appendix of Frontline when it's published.

6.       Which of your characters would you like to meet in person and why?
My answer will depend on my mood. If I'm in the mood to shop, I can't think of a better pair to hit the town with than Kelly and Denim. Kelly would know where to get all the best deals on the most stylish clothes, while Denim would supply the most laughs and energy during the expedition.

Chris and Sean are still very mysterious to me, but I’d definitely give them a call if I wanted people to go running with, or if I had a task that needed to be done requiring speed, efficiency, and stealth. They are men of many talents.

If my life was in some kind of crisis and I needed a friend to listen to me and help me get through it, Sara would be ideal.

As for Trenton, I don’t have as many scruples as Sara does, so he can pay off my student loan any day!

7.       Will you have a new book coming out soon?
I have several. The second book in The Starlight Trilogy, Starbright, will most likely be out later this fall (2013), or very early next year (2014), with the third book in the trilogy, Stardust, following in the spring or summer of 2014. The Frontline sequel is already in the works. I'm also working on several short story collections to release in between my novels, as well as a brand new novel, separate from the Frontline series and The Starlight Trilogy, which I just started writing in recent weeks. I cannot say more at this time, but I’m very excited about it!

Definitely THANK YOU Novel Tease and Alexandra for sharing!!!!  Now go check out the giveaway and then buy the book!!

Taken by You by Carlie Sexton

Synopsis:

How tragic it is when a caged spirit finally finds its freedom and — entranced in its ecstasy — is invited by that freedom into a cloaked dance with danger. In Book One of this three-part epic, Kate Simmons — young and alluring, and finally out of her cage of grief — attracts more than attention. Intoxicated by her newfound independence, a blithe Kate is on her way to finding out that around the corners of life, some life-changing eye-openers await. As the story continues in Book Two and she begins to churn a dangerously turbulent trail, it is Kate who now has to snap to, to react, to outrun, or become yet another tortured victim who vanishes down the path of wrong choice. Having already roiled the risky waters of jealousy, Kate moves in with Neil while Roger — an enamored oddity — visits his son in Germany. Upon his return and finding Kate gone, Roger’s predator mind becomes unhitched, and then unleashed, on the hunt of a lifetime. But whose life? Step by creeping step, even as Kate’s future closes in on her, she attends — obliviously — to her new life, working through the challenges of fresh relationships, losing family members both to death and to deceit, questioning the depth of love. Every path offers a choice. Every choice offers a consequence. And every consequence summons its due. As emotions swirl across fateful days and nights, some in Kate’s life will reach out to touch happiness in warm embraces, others to sever ties in bloody traces.
The stains of passion are frequently mistaken. The question here is who will be taken?

DARRA REVIEW:

Liked both Fallen for You and Taken by You. I thought that the two books went well together. I like both equally, which is a rarity. Kate, who did have a rough home life is starting new with her best friend/roommate in their own apartment. What was unexpected was Roger, the next door neighbor. At first I really wanted to like him. Creepy but with good intentions. I was not blown away by Neil at first.
You know the cocky guy that has to have his ways with you. Actually now that I type this, it does not sound as bad ;-) He's a lawyer and knows what he wants, Kate of course. Further into the story your mouth will drop after finding out more about Roger. Holy Toledo!
The ending...OMFG! If you did not love Neil at first, he makes up for it in the end. LOVE him. But the last few sentences will leave you saying "What just happened?"
Great ending. I am waiting for the next book impatiently.

If you plan to read this book make sure you read the first book. It is a must. And once you read this, then you can wait with me....impatiently for book #3.
I rate the book a 4.0. For both books together, I give it a 4.1.

SUNNY REVIEW:

I read both of these books in a day. They were that captivating. Pretty much from the first page I wanted to keep going. Most of you know how much I hate starting a new book and getting into a new world but this one was really good. You start off with Kate and Charlie moving into an apartment together and you find out that Kate is trying to get her life back in order. She had a tough time after her first love dies in a car crash and three years later she is starting to live again.

Roger is her landlord and seems to have an unhealthy interest in Kate. He is constantly monitoring her comings and goings and if she is late or not home he contacts her. She doesn't think much of it at first but as she goes along more and more stuff begins to freak her out. Mark is a guy from her class that wants to be "study partners" but Kate doesn't trust him since he comes off as a womanizer. You get to see a little bit of him and you get the feeling that he would change for Kate. Neil is the super hot lawyer that wants to get his way all the time. At first, really did not like him. I thought he was very overbearing and annoying.

At the end of the day you will fall head over heels for Neil. He really loves Kate and will do anything for her. They obviously have problems but he makes sure that he finds ways to make them go away. Seriously, at the end you can't help but sigh over Neil. He is freaking GREAT, almost Phillip-esque. The very last chapter makes you sit there and go NOOOOOOO!!!!! I can't wait for the next book. I am going to go with Darra on this and give these book 4.1 stars.
