The Impact of You by Kendall Ryan

Synopsis:

Needing an escape from her past, Avery chooses a college where no one knows her. Keeping a low profile was the plan, falling for the intense frat boy, Jase wasn't. Yet she can't deny how alive she feels when he's near. Even as common sense implores her to stay away, her body begs her to get closer.
Jase, numb from his own family drama, has grown bored with weekends fueled by nameless girls and countless bottles when he meets Avery. Helping her cope with her past is better than dealing with the bullshit his own life's served up. Determined to drive away the painful secret she's guarding, he appoints himself her life coach, and challenges her to new experiences. Getting close to her and being the one to make her smile are simply perks of the job.
But when Avery's past boldly saunters in, refusing to be forgotten, can Jase live with the truth about the girl he's fallen for?

Sunny's Review:

I love Kendall Ryan's books. This one is no exception. Jase was great. He is the usual frat boy with girls constantly hanging around him and offering to give him anything he wants. He admits to having lived up that life but was tired of it. Avery is great in the fact that she is trying to run from her past mistakes and realizes the hard way that she can't. She is adopted and does everything she can to shield her fathers from finding out about her skeletons. She also takes their feelings into account when she plans to go look for her biological mother.
I like that Jase and Avery are friends first. I mean they are both attracted to each other but they really do work on talking and getting to know each other. Jase takes his role as "life coach" seriously and tries to break Avery out of her shell. He also helps her make the decision to find her biological mother.
When everything blows up for Jase and Avery you kinda want to be mad at him. I mean he did some bad things in his past but at the same time you understand that he is hurt that Avery did not trust him. You find out a little bit more about what goes on when Jase is not talking to Avery.

I will be rereading this book in the near future (just like the rest of Kendall's books). I am giving this book 4.2 stars out of 5. If you have not bought it go get it!!

Buy The BOOK!!!

Sunny's Review:

I was captured by this book pretty much from page 1. It starts out with Phoenix planning to kill herself and you really want to know what has happened to her to make her choose death. Braeden is working in the psych ward and from the moment he hears about her he is pulled towards her. It is kind of weird that they are so drawn to each other. I mean to the point of when they touch they feel electricity. You truly ache for Phoenix and everything that has happened in her life. She had a great life with her father who loved her very much. Unfortunately, he passed away and her mother was awarded custody of her. From there her life went downhill. At the same time, Braeden had an awful life too. There was no abuse and you know that his father loved him but there are a lot of demons that he is fighting too.

I love that at the end of the day, Phoenix is not looking for a hand out. She wants to make her way in the world but does not have the resources. She is a fighter even though she is tying to get out of her situation in any way she can. She is not whiny and does not complain. She has problems and needs help. Braeden had a life of luxury in that he father is a doctor and he really doesn't want for anything. He also needs help too but he is functioning. There are times when he does act like a spoiled brat but at the same time...I LOVE HIM. He works hard and when he does do stupid stuff (the bar scene) he just owns and says hey it was a one time thing...whatever.
This book has some awesome twists to it. I thought it was going to be the typical boy swoops in and saves the girl and they live happily ever after. That is not the case. I really think that I am going to reread this book soon. I think I am going to give this book a 4.5. I had to text a friend when I finished since Darra  hadn't read it yet. It was one of those endings. LOVE IT!

Excerpt from A Brand New Ending:

"I don't want to go anywhere, Braeden. Wherever you are is where I want to be."

I think my heart does a back flip. "You have no idea how happy that makes me, hearing you say that."

She gives me a sly smile, her fingers playing in and around mine.

"Can't describe how amazing this feels," she speaks. "I've never had anyone care for me like you do."

"That's a shame," I respond quickly. "You deserve so much more than that."

"Do I?"

I lean over her so that our faces are close but I make sure to do it gently, afraid that she might retreat from my touch.

"Yes," I say softly as our eyes are locked on each other.

We hold our position and I can tell she is nervous, but I want her to make the first move. I made the mistake of pushing it on her the first time and I won't be doing that again. I can feel the heat of her breath on my face, its oddly intoxicating. But I hold still. I start to count the number of my heartbeats when I suddenly feel force against my lips. I hold back the smile, my hand coming up to cup her cheek. I start to move my lips against her, the waves of ecstasy flowing through my body. After a second, her lips start to move in unison with mine. I've kissed lots of women, but it's never felt quite like this. I don't know how long it lasts, but I refrain from sticking my tongue in her mouth, fearing that may be too much. I then swear I feel her moan in my mouth, and it's the most incredible fucking turn on I have ever heard in my life. She must have realized it too considering she pulled her lips off mine, her hands coming up to her mouth.

(sigh...I love Braeden)

Fear of Falling by S L Jennings

OMG!!! S. L. Jennings might be one of my new ABSOLUTE FAVORITE authors!!! I realize that I am saying that a lot but seriously there are a couple that freaking AWESOME and she is one of them. I hope that you remember Darra and I both freaking out over the Dark Light books...I mean I still can't get over the cliffhanger!!! So when I saw that she had this book coming out I was really excited but not sure what to expect since it is totally different from Dorian and Gabby. You seriously can't get further away...so what did I think...

I could not put this book down last night. I have the black plague going on right now and should have been trying to sleep but yeah so didn't happen...Before I go any further...here is what the book is about...

Synopsis:

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

Sunny's Review:

So...let me start with Kami is really freaking great. I mean you know some bad stuff happened to her and she describes a little bit throughout the book.  You have a love her b/c  she doesn't really complain or anything...I mean honestly she is very up front with everyone about the fact that she isn't willing to offer anything to them.   She lives her life the best that she can and when you find out everything about her...I mean...wow.

Blaine...oh boi...he skyrocketed pretty high on my list...southern accent...drives a truck...says Yes ma'am...has tattoos...and on top of it all...is freaking AWESOME. He doesn't run from what Kami as she tries to convince him it will never work and that she isn't going to ever get there. He listens and tries to help her work through her issues...LOVE HIM!!!

The end of this book was gut wrenching and at parts so hard to read...but the fact that the author can pull those emotions from you is amazing to me. My mouth literally hung open through a lot of it...there was some cringing and maybe some leaking of the eyes at parts...

I 100% recommend this book and can't tell you that you need to go get it as soon as it goes live. I will put the links up when I see it.   This book is 4.7  stars out of 5.  Seriously...you can't go wrong with any of S. L. Jennings books!

Just watching the scene had something disturbing squeezing deep inside her. It wasn’t sudden; it had crept up throughout the day and through each second that Andy had spent with Gabriel tonight. He could be the perfect father, the perfect man and role model for her son. She cleared her throat but nearly choked when she whispered, “Goodnight, Gabriel. Have a good sleep.”
This was all so confusing. What did Andy want? Why hadn’t he left, and why was he taking such an interest in Gabriel? Her throat felt all scratchy and tight, but that was only because she wanted to tuck her face in the pillow and cry those thousand tears she’d cried almost every night for Andy. All she’d ever wanted was to be loved.
What he’d done today was horrible, cruel, and she wanted to scream and yell “Why?” He had stayed, caring for her tonight and today at the hospital in a way that made her feel important, special, but she also knew she wasn’t any of that to him, not in the way she wanted to be. It was the babies. She was just the vessel, a warm cocoon for a rich man’s babies, and that was something she could not allow herself to forget. He was powerful, he was rich, and his family was dangerous.
“Are you all right?” He brushed his finger across her brows.
“Yeah, fine,” she blurted as she pulled back, her skin burning from the spark of his touch.
“You look worried about something, upset.” He was watching her, studying her as if he knew what she was thinking, and she couldn’t have that.
“No, I’m just...” She couldn’t think of what to say when her brain suddenly blanked out. That always happened when Andy stood so close to her and watched her with compelling blue eyes that could set her soul on fire, so she shut her mouth and shook her head.
He sat right beside her on the bed so his hip pressed into hers. She knew all too well what those slim hips and tight abs looked like naked and pressed against her hips, nestled between her thighs. It was almost too much heat for her, so she squirmed and tried to slide over and away from him.
“You all right? You look uncomfortable.”
He wouldn’t even look away. Uncomfortable, hell yeah. And it was all his fault. “Just stiff is all.”
“Can I?” He rested his hand over her swollen belly, where the babies had been kicking furiously for the last hour.
He was connecting with her babies. She wanted to scream and yell at him, “Hell no! Keep your hands off!” but her body was betraying her. The reality was that she wanted him to touch her, to run his hands over every square inch of her.
He didn’t wait for her to say anything, but then, she couldn’t get her tongue to move. The damn thing had thickened, and her throat had completed dried up as he invaded her space. My God, he even smelled good, and his scruffy jaw...she longed to reach up and run her hands over it.
His touch sent shockwaves through her, and the babies responded in kind. She’d swear they jumped from his touch, as if they knew that Andy was their daddy. He smiled that charming, boyish grin she’d only seen a few times. Never once had he smiled just for her.
“Wow, that’s amazing. Did you feel that?”
For a moment, she felt herself being pulled into his joy, just like a little boy’s first Christmas, but she had to look away, to move away from his touch, because she’d never again be treated as if she was nothing. Andy Friessen could turn on a dime, and she’d never play second again. “Yeah, I did. Listen, I’m tired.” She scooted over and lifted his hand off her belly. She couldn’t look at him even though she could feel the sharp change in him as if she’d just ripped away all his joy. So why was she feeling guilty? She wasn’t the bad guy here.

2012 was an amazing year in the publishing world for me, and it started with The Forgotten Child, which landed on the Amazon bestseller list for western romance and romance series. With the publication of each novel and short story, each one made its way to the top ten for its respective genre. 2013 has seen me posted in the top 100 authors on Amazon for romantic suspense and mystery/thrillers, police procedural.

Where did it all begin? In 2008, I published my first novel, The Captain’s Lady, a contemporary military romance, through The Wild Rose Press. This year I have a crazy writing schedule with four books scheduled for release and six short stories.

I write three genres, edgy romantic suspense (Walk the Right Road Series), western romance (Finding Love ~ The Outsider Series), and young adult mystery, and I warn my readers to expect the unexpected. I’m the mother of three children, one a special needs child. We live on a small Island in the Pacific Northwest, where I advocate for the environment and the rights of special needs children. Somewhere in my busy schedule, I do find time to write. I encourage you to contact me by email; I do answer every email I receive.

Stay tuned. There is more to come from the Walk the Right Road Series and Finding Love ~ The Outsider Series.

And to my readers and all of you who have shared my stories with your family and friends, a big heartfelt thank you.

Conquer Your Love by J. C. Reed

Hello Ladies! I just read Conqer Your Love, the sequel to Surrender Your Love. Surrender Your Love was on sale for $.99 last week and so this book was only $2.99. Couldn't pass it up. We have heard great things about both books. The first book starts with Brooke, the main character needs to interview a large company owner and instead some Playboy shows up and says the guy won't show. She gets mad. The next day she is essenially fired from her job so she can get hired at the same company she was wanting to speak with. All questionable. Of course the Hot guy(Jett) that she met up with her in place of the boss ends up  actually being her boss. Did I forget she wakes up with hom next to her the first night they met? Kudos for her. She gets to travel to Italy for a two week stay to (work) the second day of work. As you can imagine, they have sex. When I say that, sweet baby they have some intense scenes. Which I am not opposed to. Ladies-meet Jett. He is not part of your book boyfriend list.

I have not went into major detail about the plot. There is actually a plot! The ending of the first book leaves it where you believe Jett is using her to make a deal on this property that has a lot of secrets behind it. In Conquer Your Love it is all about Jett trying to get back Brooke, the women he now loves. You find out that Brooke will be the owner of that same house. Jett followed to protect her. Everyone that is connected to the past of this house property is trying to kill her off. But Jett won't let that happen.
Jett is a Class A hotty. Bring it on! Super sexy(See 6-pack above), swagger, rich and has that jealously/manly protection thing over Brooke.
I am not a woman that likes to be claimed, however Jett will be an exception.

Go and read both books. And just a spoiler, there is a third book you and I have to wait for! I am so impatient!
Giving both a 4.3

Epilogue by CJ Roberts

I have been waiting on this book to come out FOREVER!!! In case you don't remember Darra recommended the Dark Duet series & it took me awhile to get on board but when I did I totally fell for Caleb (remember no JUDGING here!).

SPOILERS! IF YOU HAVE NOT READ 1ST 2 BOOKS STOP!!

If you remember how Seduced ended there was an epilogue that basically said that they were living together and working on getting their lives together. This book is the time from when Caleb finds Livvie again until the epilogue of Seduced.

Ok...so this an AWESOME book b/c it is Caleb's POV and oh boi...if you thought he was crazy in the first 2 books...WOW!!!

If you are a 50 shades lover and think that Christian Grey was out there you seriously need to see what Caleb is up to. That is all I can really say. I love that Caleb is really trying to be who Livvie needs him to be but at the same time he is himself and has to think the insane thoughts.

Honestly this book is definitely a 4.4 out of 5 stars.
